Residential Tenancy Databases (RTDs) are privately owned, electronic
databases that collect information on tenants to assist property
managers and landlords assess risk and identify potential problem
tenants. On 19 November 2003, the Ministerial Council on Consumer
Affairs and the Standing Committee of Attorneys-General released
an Issues Paper for public comment. The paper aimed to prompt stakeholder
input on issues relating to the role, operation and extent of RTD
use in Australia.
